Visions Work 2/9

This week I have mainly been trying to solidify plans for catering and Thursday night dinner. On Monday I called and emailed multiple restaurants for the Thursday night dinner. 2 places (Oceanic and South Beach Grill) were too small. Bluewater was perfect, but a little pricey. Dockside was perfect, but a little small. This week I will be continuing to nail down the specifics. I want to have the restaurant picked and booked by this Friday. Catering is slow going because I am just waiting to hear back about our donation and whether or not we will be allowed to receive donations from outside companies. I spent almost the entire day on Monday (2/9) working on these details as well as other work like typing up my Caroline Robert's interview.

Other than that work, I also had my department meeting as well as my directors meeting. I watched and graded all the films and papers and I am ready for the final round of voting!

Visions Work 2/1

This week I worked a lot on trying to get the Visions Archive organized and sorted correctly. I spent around 4 hours downloading and copying documents into the archive and on to my computer. The archive fell off my radar last semester, so since January I have been working to maintain it again. I also interviewed Caroline Roberts, our keynote speaker. We talked for about 45 minutes and had a great and fun conversation.

The hospitality department met today to give an update on where everyone is at with each of their projects. I am trying to encourage them to be sure to post everything they do to the drive since it will help them in the long run when it comes to making manuals and helping the people who will hold this position in the future.

Visions Work - Week of 1/26

This week I spent my time planning out Swag Bags, beginning my conversations with UNCW Catering, and researching various restaurants to hold our Thursday night dinner. I spent about 2 and a half hours researching and making my presentation for 2/3. I also spent about 2 hours sorting and trying to understand the catering invoices that Zoe left me from last year. I got in contact with our catering contact and began a conversation about our hopeful Aramark donation and what we will be needing for this year. For the Thursday night dinner, I spent about and hour and a half looking for restaurants on Wrightsville beach which can accommodate about 75 people. I came up with 3 perspective places that I am going to go to this week and check for the scenery and technical details like parking.

I made a deadline for myself of February 24th to have all the details of swag bags, catering, and Thursday night dinner worked out. By then I want to be in the position that I am ready order/purchase everything for those so I don't have to worry about planning and organizing all this when we start bringing in all the filmmakers/scholars.

On top of all this I also watched and graded this weeks films for about 2 and a half hours, met with the directors for an hour, met with Ally, EK, and Melissa to discuss Friday night dinner particulars for 2 hours, and met with my lovely Hospitality department to touch base on what we were all doing this week and what needed to be done for the following week.
